Tender Stone

Tender Stone is a handmade collage part of Ilaria’s new series of artworks entitled From When I am Weak, then I am Strong exhibited at the Adidas Store in Oxford Circus, London, March 2022.

The focus of this series of two works is presenting a new and unusual idea of power. The inspiration comes from the verse of the Bible 2 Corinthians 12:10 which also becomes the title of this series. Many people in our society associate the idea of power with a force that comes from above. We can think about the great economic and the interests that move the global manoeuvres. However, the artist thinks that power can also be seen differently. We can see it as a force that generates a movement, that makes something new happen. This powerful force can surprisingly be tenderness. Tenderness can be the heroine that unblocks the petrified lives of people. If you think that a gesture of tenderness has brought us into the world and a gesture of tenderness has kept us alive, you can also agree that thanks to gestures of tenderness, life can unleash its true power: regenerate humans and give life to things.
