‘Heavy like a Boulder’ is the 3rd illustration of the series ‘The Inner Metamorphosis. A Journey through Loneliness’. This is a series of 9 artworks inspired by the artist’s experience that represents a journey of deep reflection and personal growth through loneliness. The metamorphosis of the butterfly has been used as a metaphor to narrate the lonely experiences of the artist.
Every illustration of the series corresponds to a sentence of a poem created by Ilaria. (In bold the sentence related to ‘Heavy like a Boulder’)
‘A big city, a lot of people, but I am lonely
A long list of contacts but no real connections
I am lonely, weighed down by a rock
The fear grips me and all around is just dark
The exhausting battle has started
Only a hug can beat the loneliness
Now I can see myself reborn in the mirror
I can fly freely together with others.
The metamorphosis has been accomplished.’
